Santa Barbara Welcomes the USS Ronald Reagan!

May 30 - June 2nd

Based out of San Diego, the 97,000 ton ship was christened by
the former First Lady, Nancy Reagan in 2001.
This is her third visit to Santa Barbara and her last for a while.
It is the "hail and farewell" visit for the Reagan, which will be
re-assigned to Yokosuta, Japan next year.

The Santa Barbara Council for the Navy League will be  hosting
many activities for the Sailors and Officers of the Reagan.

The nuclear-powered warship carries 3200 sailors and holds 90 fixed
wing crafts and helicopters.  One of the largest carriers in the world,
it cost $4.5 billion to construct.

LOCAL

Sailors will be coming ashore and spending time in the Santa Barbara
area.  Family members are in town to spend time with their loved ones.
We welcome the USS Reagan, her sailors and officers to Santa Barbara.
Enjoy our beautiful community, be safe and thank you for your service!
