Fiesta Santa Barbara, July 31-August 4.



Join La Presidenta Barbara Carroll for the annual celebration that includes sampling delicious foods at El Mercado de la Guerra,  the thrilling
El Desfile Historico, the colorful El Desfile de los Ninos, rocking through the evenings in the Casa Cantina or Crazy Horse Cantina and enjoying music, dance, fun and so much more of Old Spanish Days Fiesta! 
The poster is an original graphic design by local Santa Barbara artist Victor Sigismondi, and features a classic parade scene in bright vivid colors. It showcases the children, dancers and horses in the parade in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara.

Celebrating a decade, the free summer cinema series at the Santa Barbara county courthouse sunken garden has solidified itself as a wildly popular tradition. 

screenings take place on Friday evenings in July and August in the iconic courthouse sunken garden at 8:30 p.m. the series is made possible by a collaboration between arts & lectures, the office of arts & culture & Santa Barbara county parks

guests may set out blankets and chairs anytime after 12 p.m. on movie nights. low-back chairs are welcome, as are non-synthetic blankets (to help keep the lawn lovely!) people are encouraged to bring jackets as it gets chilly at night. please keep in mind that the county is not responsible for any items left unattended on the lawn. we hope to see you there!

It is time again to start designing for this year's fun in the sun event


SBMM’s Annual Kardboard Kayak Races


The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is excited about hosting the 17th annual Kardboard Kayak Race Team Challenge, in conjunction with Semana Nautica.
SBMM’s Kardboard Kayak Races challenge families and teams to participate in a battle of wits, creativity, design, and courage! Teams of up to four people each receive two sheets of cardboard, one roll of duct tape, a permanent marker, a utility knife, a yardstick, and just one hour to construct a functioning kayak out of ONLY those materials. Each of the assigned team paddlers will then be ready to race–and to find out whose design can hold up to the water and the pressure of being paddled out to a buoy and back. The Kardboard Kayak Races are divided into separate heats to ensure fair competition: Family Fun (paddler must be 14 years old or younger) and Paddling Pros (paddler is a “skilled” competitor). Let the races and fun begin!
