Get Inspired! Explore Santa Barbara's Public Gardens. As part of National Public Gardens Day on May 9 and throughout the month of May, many extraordinary Santa Barbara locations will offer discounts and activities.

National Historic Landmark, the estate garden is one of the few remaining as
originally designed during the Golden Age of American Gardens (1895-1940).
Tour the gardens of Casa del Herrero and learn how the design
is an important example of the Golden age of American Gardens
interpreted in a Spanish/Moorish style.

A 37-acre botanical estate garden containing subtropical and
tropical plants from around the world.
In addition to the Lotusland garden tour, visitors enjoy a
multi-media installation in the Pavilion gallery showcasing
Madame Walska’s unique persona and the results of her
indefatigable drive and tenacious nature.
Docent led tours are at 10 am and 1:30 pm, Wednesday
through Saturday.
Admission is $45, $20 for children ages 3-18,
under 3 are free.

Long considered the jewel of the Santa Barbara City park system,
this downtown park features unique botanical and horticultural elements in an
exquisite urban retreat.
SANTA BARBARA BOTANIC GARDEN
One of the nation’s oldest botanic gardens focused exclusively on
native plants and has one of the state’s largest collections of California native plants.
Join Mary Carroll for this overview of common California plant
families. Learn the basic terminology of plant identification,
and how to use the Jepson Manual to identify plants. Become
familiar with the characteristics of our most common California
plant families. Bring a 10x hand lens if you have one and the
2nd edition of the manual (available in the Garden Shop).
Workshop will be in Blakesley Library $85 for members,
$100 for non-members
The gardens and Arboretum are a surviving example of the late
19th/early 20th century Picturesque style garden, characterized
by specimen trees from around the world.
Every Thursday in May from 1pm to 3pm a Docent Tour and
Afternoon Tea at the historic Simpson House Inn. Secluded
on an acre of English Gardens in the heart of downtown
Santa Barbara with expansive lawns, mature trees, flower
beds and water features. Docent Tour from 1pm to 1:30pm.
Afternoon Tea served at individual tables in the gardens
from 1:30pm to 3pm. A selection of finger sandwiches,
savories & sweets including homemade scones with
lemon curd and cream.

Chase Palm Park -Carousel

The Park and Recreation Community (PARC) Foundation is
pleased to partner with the City of Santa Barbara Parks and
Recreation Department and the Santa Barbara Public
Gardens Partnership to celebrate our community parks and
gardens! Please be our guest to visit beautiful Chase Palm
Park located along Santa Barbara’s gorgeous waterfront
(Garden Street/Cabrillo Blvd.) and take a ride on the historic
1916 Alan Herschell Carousel.

Garden Tour of the Masters
Santa Barbara County
Brief overview at the Davis Center on each garden attendees
will visit. Visit 3 Master Gardeners’ private gardens and hear
the MG Owner’s talk at each about the garden’s design intent,
challenges and goals. Each garden emphasizes sustainability

The Bonsai Club of Santa Barbara will be presenting it’s annual
show of Bonsai Trees. Both Days will include demonstrations at
1:00 PM, plant sale and silent auctions, members will also be
available for questions about the trees and the art of Bonsai.
