Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Opens Sea Center on Sterns Wharf

Sea Center Reopens Saturday, March 12

Open Daily 10:00 AM–5:00 PM

After six months of work, the Sea Center on Stearns Wharf reopens to the public on March 12 with infrastructure upgrades and a refreshed upstairs exhibit, Dive In: Our Changing Channel.

Explore the underwater world of the Santa Barbara Channel in our updated upstairs exhibit. Encounter a Two-spot Octopus, Moon Jellies, Giant Pacific Seahorses, a California Moray, and more. Learn about the channel’s unique habitats from rocky reefs to kelp forests and see the animals that live there.

Star Party

Palmer Observatory at the Museum

Star Parties are back at the Museum! The Palmer Observatory will open its doors and its roof to share a remarkable view of the wonders of the night sky through our state-of-the-art 20-inch telescope.

Join Museum astronomy staff and members of the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit for an evening of craters on the Moon, nebulas, galaxies, and more.

This event is free and appropriate for all audiences. The observatory will be open from 7:00 to 10:00 PM, weather permitting. Due to the use of shared telescopes, masks are required.
