Fiesta Santa Barbara begins August 2. Here's info about the Childrens' Parade
By the City of Santa Barbara
The City Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting entry forms to participate in this year’s Children’s Fiesta Parade. The parade, a longtime tradition for local families, will celebrate its 91st year on Saturday, August 5. Each year has brought new families together, alongside families who have proudly participated in the Children’s Fiesta Parade for more than five generations.
Parents, families, and friends create and decorate their own floats, carts, and wagons to join this foot-powered parade. No motorized or battery-operated vehicles are used. Children and parents typically dress in colorful Spanish and Mexican costumes, often bringing chickens, goats, ponies, dogs, and other small animals to add to the fun.
Parade entries can be as small or as large as desired. Whether it’s one family of three, a group of siblings and cousins, an entire neighborhood, a dance school, or a special club or group - there is room for every child in the parade and there is no cost to participate. All participating children will also receive free ice cream, generously provided by MarBorg Industries.
The community is invited to attend the parade on Saturday, August 5, starting at 10 a.m. as it makes its way along Cabrillo Boulevard from Garden Street to Calle Puerto Vallarta.
Families and groups wishing to participate must complete an online application by Friday, July 7. The application and more information can be found at SantaBarbaraCA.gov/FiestaParade.

Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Festival - Saturday June 24
The 49th annual Solstice Parade 2023 will begin at Noon on June 24th at the intersection of Ortega and Santa Barbara Streets. The parade will travel on Santa Barbara Street and end at the Solstice Festival at Alameda park. (Sola Street).
We are hopeful to return to our roots on State Street next year when outdoor dining becomes portable and we are able to safely accommodate parades. In the meantime, we are excited about the opportunities that Santa Barbara Street has opened up for us. Parade spectators will enjoy a different view of Santa Barbara, with the beautiful mountains in the background. Along this route we have the Santa Barbara Courthouse, the SB Historical Museum and the Presidio, all steeped in the history of our community. We can't imagine a better place to renew our spirit, come together as a community and to explore our ROOTS!
Click here for information on our workshop and how you can participate in the parade either helping with the building of floats or front and center!
VIP SEATING
VIP Seating is a totally fun way to see the Parade and support Solstice. Our shaded seating includes water, snacks, and a parade swag bag. There are seats available on both sides of De La Guerra and Santa Barbara Streets. Seats can also be purchased as a group for a company or organization.
