Santa Barbara Festival Ballet presents “Nutcracker At The Arlington", with Live, Full Symphony Orchestra (Elise Unruh, Conductor). A true Santa Barbara Holiday Tradition - Celebrating its 42nd Year! Experience this classic E.T.A. Hoffmann tale and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score as SBFB takes you on a magical journey full of wonder and surprise with Clara and her Nutcracker Prince. Witness Herr Drosselmeyer’s Clockwork Dolls dance to life, a giant Christmas Tree grow before your eyes, and Rat King and Toy Soldiers Battle through cannon explosions on stage with mischievous Giant Mice! Be transported to the Kingdom of Sweets where wonders galore captivate, with Dancing Snowflakes, enchanting Waltzing Flowers, and audience favorite Mother Ginger.

Under Artistic Director Aimee Lopez, the cast of over 100 features Professional Guest Artists Misa Kuranaga, Principal Dancer with Boston Ballet (Sugar Plum Fairy); Chase Finlay, Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet (Cavalier); Mary LaCroix-Lorh (Snow Queen) and Barrington Lorh (Snow Cavalier), previously with Nevada Ballet Theatre and Las Vegas Contemporary Ballet; and Tracy R. Kofford, Artistic Director of Dance SBCC, along with the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet Performing Company, SBFB conservatory students, and dancers from the UCSB Department of Dance and the Santa Barbara community.

Beautifully costumed and staged, this Nutcracker has delighted generations throughout our Central Coast for decades. Nutcracker At The Arlington is recognized as one of the rare and longest continuously running productions in the USA performed with a live orchestra! This is Santa Barbara’s Nutcracker! This year, we are proud to be honoring the memory of Maestro Ronald Ondrejka, who was instrumental in bringing our first Nutcracker productions to the Arlington stage over 40 years ago.

Three performances: Saturday, Dec. 10th at 2:30pm and 7pm, Sunday, Dec 11th at 2:30pm.

Parade of Lights - Santa Barbara Harbor

Santa Barbara Parade of Lights - Sunday, December 11, 2016

The 2016 event marks the 31st Annual Parade of Lights. Get ready for a rip-roaring good time with this year's theme of "Wild West Holiday." It's sure to be a fun and festive one for boat participants to decorate to and should make for a packed entry list with lots to see and enjoy for everyone viewing the parade.

Starting with fun for the entire family at Santa's Village, the event culminates with a 5-7 minute fireworks display at approximately 7 p.m. The boat parade is preceded by Santa’s Village activities beginning at 3 p.m. on the City Pier in Santa Barbara Harbor (by the boats). Hundreds of families come out to play in tons of snow and take photos with Santa to get into the holiday spirit. The first 200 children receive free goody bags from Santa's helpers!

At 5:30 p.m. the annual boat parade will begin with approximately 25 boats motoring, sailing, and paddling the Santa Barbara Coastline. Judging takes place at Stearns Wharf and boats are awarded donated cash and prizes in five categories. Best viewing locations include Stearns Wharf and the breakwater. Then stay for the fireworks show after the parade to end your night with a bang.

Whether you are shopping for a gift or adding to your collection, you can shop around the world for the truly unique, and exotic treasures.

And while at the Museum, enjoy tantalizing cuisine at the Tribal Arts Café , stroll through the Museum’s picturesque grounds, and then continue shopping around the world.

Proceeds from the Folk & Tribal Arts Marketplace support the exhibits and science education programs at the Museum and Sea Center.

Our premier series at the Reagan Ranch Center, the Reagan Ranch Roundtable is a monthly luncheon that typically attracts 175-200 top student activists, Foundation supporters and local conservative allies. In the past, these events have included leading Conservative voices, including Governors Tim Pawlenty and Bobby Jindal, Senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, Victor Davis Hanson, Ambassador John Bolton, Dr. Robert George, Michelle Malkin and others.

About Lieutenant Colonel Allen West:

Allen West was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia in the same neighborhood where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once preached. He is the third of four generations of military servicemen in his family.

During his 22 year career in the United States Army, Lieutenant Colonel West served in several combat zones: in Operation Desert Storm, in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was a Battalion Commander in the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, and later in Afghanistan. He received many honors including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals and a Valorous Unit Award. In 1993 he was named the US Army ROTC Instructor of the Year.

After his retirement from the Army in 2004, Allen taught high school for a year before returning to Afghanistan as a civilian military adviser to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.

In November of 2010, Allen was honored to continue his oath of service to his country when he was elected to the United States Congress, representing Florida’s 22nd District. As a member of the 112th Congress, he sat on the Small Business and Armed Services Committees and was instrumental in passage of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.

Allen is currently the Executive Director and Chairman of the Board for National Center for Policy Analysis, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research organization, established in 1983. Its goal is to develop and promote private, free-market alternatives to government regulation and control, solving problems by relying on the strength of the competitive, entrepreneurial private sector.

He is also a Fox News Contributor, a Senior Fellow at the London Center for Policy Research, and regularly writes for numerous media outlets.

Allen is an avid distance runner, a Master SCUBA diver and motorcyclist. His wife, Angela, holds an MBA and Ph.D. and is a financial planner. His older daughter, Aubrey, attends college in south Florida, and his younger daughter Austen, is in high school.
