The Runaway Grooms and Groove Session
September 15, 8:30pm
Join The Runaway Grooms and Grove Session at SOhO Restaurant and Music Club!
Born from the culture of the Colorado mountains, The Runaway Grooms are bringing a refreshing take on contemporary jam band music. With pocket grooves, syncopated rhythms, and expansive tones, the band captures elements of funk and psychedelic rock while simultaneously celebrating traditional songwriting roots of Americana music. Dueling guitar solos, 3-part harmonies, and a screaming lap steel guitar, combine to create a unique soundscape that takes listeners through an experiential musical journey.
GrooveSession is always a good time. This Southern California band brings a Movin’ Groovin’ high energy Rock Show with flavors of Jam Rock, Funk, Jazz Fusion, and Reggae. Led by singing drummer Manny Sanchez, along with his younger brother Ronnie Sanchez playing bass guitar and completing an unrivaled rhythm section. Natural harmonies in life as well as voice you can’t help but move once the GROOVE is in SESSION. Brothers Sanchez have now connected with true talents and creative energies in Kyle Merrill on guitar and vocals and Alex Mello on keyboards. Both Kyle and Alex are respected musicians and road warriors from the band Brothers Gow. The four of them now cosmically have come together as one band joining forces on stage as Songwriters, Jammers, Rockers and Space Funkers United.

Accentuate the Positive
September 15, 8:00pm
It was in 1944 that Bing Crosby made the Johnny Mercer tune, Accentuate the Positive, a hit in film and on radio. It later became known as one of the songs that got Americans through World War Two. The popular songs of the day, now called the American Songbook, became an unofficial catalogue of music that comforted, inspired, and connected Americans at home and abroad between the 1920s-1940s.
Now, Jazz at the Ballroom presents Accentuate the Positive, an evening of the unforgettable music from the Songbook that kept Americans company for over four transformational decades. An all-star line-up shares the stage with the Konrad Paszkudzki Quartet to sing classic standards including Pennies from Heaven, Look for the Silver Lining, On the Sunny Side of the Street, It Had to be You, and As Time Goes By.
Jazz at the Ballroom is a California-based non-profit that celebrates America’s truly original music – classic jazz and the American Songbook. They are dedicated to showcasing the greatest musicians in unique settings. Through their concerts, scholarship program, workshops, and performances at schools, senior living centers, and hospitals, JATB works to enhance the appreciation of the Songbook in the larger community.
